Not like from the hotel where we are staying

The Scott Clan has probaly found their house

We've visited at probably 15 houses and spent quite a lot of time on internet to find a good house. To rent a house in Chile is quite like to buy one in UK. There is a cascading effect, e.g. the owner who want to rent his house has to leave it first!! So it can take between 1 and 2 months minimum.
So we've started to visit empty houses and found one. Above our budget but with a fantastic view so damm it we gave an offer. Below a view from the living room....

Well I am ready to rodeo...well I prefer football

And we should not forget the rodeo :-)

A rodeo a bit smoother than the one in US as you just have to push the cow against the wall. Nice.

It was a really good day for the kids as well

Military forces are very much admired in Chile. Children could go nearly in every vehicules

Fiestas Patrias in Santiago for my english male firends

LAst Sunday (11/09/2011) we went to see how Chileans celebrate their Fiestas Patrias. At least in Santiago, they get together in a big park and follow their traditions. One of them is the carnaval!! As in Brazil they have a competitions between different schools. Figurants are more dress than in Rio and probably than the ladies at Newcastle "ladies days" but it worth a look and the music was quiete untertaining!! Just the spanish was missing, the drinks and the friends

Fiestas Patrias for Mael (continued)

No doubts he will be a charmer (like his dad)

Fiestas Patrias now with Mael

Such a beauty. His costume was a bit different...probably a "berger" (do not kow the english word for this.

Fiestas Patrias with Kiran (Continued)

Enclosed an extract of Kiran's dance. Pay attention to Jas voice in the background such a carring mother :-)

Fiestas Patrias at School let's start with Kiran

"Fiestas Patrias" is a major celebration in Chile. It celebrates the independance of Chile form Spain. A bit like the 14th of July in France. In UK, I do not know because you nerver got rid off your monarchy and you have colonnised most of the world and never been occupied yourself.
Well during this party you have to dress in a traditionnal clothes, eat traditionnal food and dance on very old type music.
This happen the second week of school. No need to say that Kiran really did not want to dress in pyjama with a lizard mask dancing in front of every body but in the end he succeed and we were very pround.

Road to the factory...

I like this place. You can drive like in Paris. You can overtake from the left, from the right and from the top. No speed check as well. Paradise.

Kids' school

Despite Santiago being a massive area, they are very nice areas. This is the case of our children school located quite high above Santiago. This to be near the 1000 m limit. Limit above which it is forbidden to build houses.
Kid's classes start at 7h45 and finish at 14h30 folled by after school activities until 16h25.
And... they have to take the bus. No need to say that the first time daddy was following the boys by car to check that everything was ok ;-)

Still a massive city. Watch the video !!!!

And...

Chilean people are very nice and wellcoming and the city is very safe compared to Sao Paulo.
Luckly we knew some friends who are living in Chile and they help us to find our way arround.

But we have bright colourfull breakfast cereals

And this is what we faced our first day in Santiago

Nearly the same !!!
As you can see in the backgorund there are some mountains and the sky is quite blue.
But there is only 4 897 568 people more a bit jammed compared to what we knew in York and in France.
No need to say that we were quite shocked

Our last day in South of France the 27/09/2011

This is the image we took in our memories before leaving the south of France.
A beautiful sky in a peaceful country side with in the background the french Alpes
